HISTORY OF FARIDABAD

While Faridabad now stands as one of the main focal points in all of India it didn’t always look that way. Today’s Faridabad residents won’t remember the times past since it first came into existence in 1607 as a fort town. Today Faridabad is one of the leading industrial and agricultural centers in the entire nation and is a bustling town full of people like never before.

Faridabad, one of India’s northern most cities, was founded in 1607 by Shaikh Farid, who was serving at the time as the treasurer of Jahangir. Farid was attempting to found Faridabad in order to protect the main highway which passed directly through the center of the town. While he was alive, Farid built the first, initial buildings that stood in Faridabad. Today the fort, mosque and tank that Farid built back in the early 1600’s are in ruins.

The city of Faridabad starting growing slowly since this time as more and more Pakistan refugees started coming in. Faridabad was looked at as a place where work could be plentiful and an escape plausible. Soon though Faridabad was filing not only with Pakistan people but people of multi-languages and different races/ religions.

In 1979 everything changed for Faridabad to make it into what it is today. In that year Faridabad was ruled as the 12th district of Haryana State on the 15 of August. Today Faridabad is the most populated city in all of Haryana and brings in nearly 2/3 of all the industrial products in the state.
